Symmetry, Mass Generation, Interaction Hierarchy, Macroscopic Emergence, and Substrate Corrections
Volume V: Symmetry, Mass, Interaction, and Emergence Domain
Status: Symmetry, Mass Generation, Interaction Hierarchy, and Macroscopic Emergence — Six Predictions
Prediction 1: Non-Abelian Gauge Self-Interaction
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Structural Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Non-Abelian structure constants \(f^{abc}\), gauge coupling \(g\), gauge-field strength \(F_{\mu\nu}^{a}\), and the three- and four-gauge-boson interaction vertices \(\Gamma_{3g}\) and \(\Gamma_{4g}\).
- Core Mechanism: Non-Abelian symmetry produces a non-vanishing commutator contribution to the gauge-field strength: \[ F_{\mu\nu}^{a} = \partial_\mu A_\nu^{a} - \partial_\nu A_\mu^{a} - g f^{abc}A_\mu^{b}A_\nu^{c}. \] The resulting three- and four-gauge-boson interaction vertices therefore possess the coupling dependence \[ \Gamma_{3g}\propto g f^{abc}, \] and \[ \Gamma_{4g}\propto g^2 f^{abe}f^{cde}. \] For an Abelian theory, \[ f^{abc}=0, \] and these self-interaction terms vanish. For a non-Abelian theory, \[ f^{abc}\neq0, \] and intrinsic gauge-field self-interaction necessarily occurs. The relative strength and tensor structure of the self-interaction vertices are therefore determined by the gauge coupling and the underlying symmetry algebra.
- Observable / Test: Precision measurements of triple- and quartic-gauge interaction processes, with experimentally extracted interaction strengths compared with the predicted dependence \[ \Gamma_{3g}\propto g f^{abc}, \qquad \Gamma_{4g}\propto g^2f^{abe}f^{cde}, \] after established gauge couplings and calculable radiative corrections are included.
- Localized Falsification: Experimentally extracted triple- and quartic-gauge interaction strengths that remain inconsistent with the predicted structure \[ \Gamma_{3g}\propto g f^{abc}, \qquad \Gamma_{4g}\propto g^2f^{abe}f^{cde}, \] after established gauge couplings and calculable radiative corrections are included, falsify this specific non-Abelian gauge self-interaction prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 2–6.
Prediction 2: Mass Generation from the Structured Vacuum
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Structural Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Gauge coupling \(g\), scalar self-coupling \(\lambda\), selected vacuum expectation value \(v\), gauge-boson mass \(m_A\), scalar mass \(m_h\), and, for the electroweak realization, \(g_1\), \(g_2\), \(m_W\), \(m_Z\), and \(\theta_W\).
- Core Mechanism: Coupling to the selected structured vacuum generates mass terms for the coupled gauge and scalar fields. For a gauge field, \[ |D_\mu\phi|^2 \supset \frac12g^2v^2A_\mu A^\mu, \] giving \[ m_A=gv. \] For the scalar excitation about the selected vacuum, \[ V(\phi) = \lambda \left( |\phi|^2-v^2 \right)^2, \] the quadratic term gives \[ m_h^2=2\lambda v^2. \] Thus \[ m_A=gv, \qquad m_h=\sqrt{2\lambda}\,v, \] and consequently \[ \frac{m_h}{m_A} = \frac{\sqrt{2\lambda}}{g}. \] For the electroweak realization, \[ m_W=\frac12g_2v, \] and \[ m_Z= \frac12\sqrt{g_1^2+g_2^2}\,v. \] Hence \[ \frac{m_W}{m_Z} = \frac{g_2} {\sqrt{g_1^2+g_2^2}} = \cos\theta_W. \] The gauge and scalar masses are therefore generated from the same selected structured vacuum.
- Observable / Test: Precision measurements of gauge-boson and scalar masses together with independent determinations of the corresponding gauge and scalar couplings, testing whether the measured quantities satisfy \[ m_A=gv, \qquad m_h^2=2\lambda v^2, \] and the corresponding electroweak mass relations after established radiative corrections are included.
- Localized Falsification: Precision measurements that remain inconsistent with \[ m_A=gv, \qquad m_h^2=2\lambda v^2, \] after the calculable radiative corrections are included, falsify this specific structured-vacuum mass-generation prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1 or 3–6.
Prediction 3: Universal Vacuum Scale
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Structural Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Gauge-boson mass \(m_A\), scalar mass \(m_h\), gauge coupling \(g\), scalar self-coupling \(\lambda\), and selected vacuum expectation value \(v\).
- Core Mechanism: The mass relations derived from the selected structured vacuum contain the same vacuum expectation value \(v\). From the gauge sector, \[ v=\frac{m_A}{g}, \] while from the scalar sector, \[ v=\frac{m_h}{\sqrt{2\lambda}}. \] Therefore, \[ \frac{m_A}{g} = \frac{m_h}{\sqrt{2\lambda}} = v. \] For the electroweak sector, \[ \frac{2m_W}{g_2} = \frac{2m_Z} {\sqrt{g_1^2+g_2^2}} = \frac{m_h}{\sqrt{2\lambda}} = v. \] The vacuum expectation value is therefore a common structural scale rather than an independently adjustable scale for each field sector.
- Observable / Test: Independent reconstruction of the vacuum scale from gauge and scalar mass-generating sectors, testing whether the independently determined values of \[ \frac{m_A}{g} \] and \[ \frac{m_h}{\sqrt{2\lambda}} \] coincide with the same value of \(v\), after consistent renormalization and calculable radiative corrections.
- Localized Falsification: Independent determinations of the vacuum scale from the gauge and scalar sectors that yield irreducibly incompatible values, \[ \frac{m_A}{g} \neq \frac{m_h}{\sqrt{2\lambda}}, \] after consistent renormalization and all calculable radiative corrections are included, falsify this specific universal-vacuum-scale prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1, 2, or 4–6.
Prediction 4: Symmetry Algebra and Interaction Hierarchy
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Structural Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Gauge symmetry groups \(U(1)\), \(SU(2)\), and \(SU(3)\), structure constants \(f^{abc}\), gauge-field strength \(F_{\mu\nu}^{a}\), and dimensions of the corresponding Lie algebras.
- Core Mechanism: Interaction structure follows from the internal algebraic structure of the corresponding symmetry groups. The gauge-field strength is \[ F_{\mu\nu}^{a} = \partial_\mu A_\nu^{a} - \partial_\nu A_\mu^{a} + g f^{abc} A_\mu^{b}A_\nu^{c}. \] For the Abelian sector, \[ U(1):\qquad f^{abc}=0, \] so the gauge field has no intrinsic self-interaction. For the non-Abelian sectors, \[ SU(2),SU(3):\qquad f^{abc}\neq0, \] so the gauge fields possess intrinsic self-interaction. The corresponding algebra dimensions are \[ \dim U(1)=1, \qquad \dim SU(2)=3, \qquad \dim SU(3)=8. \] The experimentally reconstructed interaction vertices and nonlinear gauge-field contributions must therefore exhibit the algebraic structure associated with their respective symmetry groups.
- Observable / Test: Precision measurements of interaction processes testing the distinction between the Abelian and non-Abelian sectors and determining whether the reconstructed gauge-field interaction structures follow the corresponding Lie-algebra structure constants.
- Localized Falsification: Precision measurements establishing a persistent gauge-field interaction structure inconsistent with \[ f^{abc}=0 \quad\text{for }U(1), \] and \[ f^{abc}\neq0 \quad\text{for }SU(2),SU(3), \] or revealing self-interaction patterns incompatible with the corresponding Lie-algebra structure constants, falsify this specific symmetry-algebra and interaction-hierarchy prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1–3 or 5–6.
Prediction 5: Macroscopic Fluctuation Scaling
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Statistical Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Extensive observable \(A\), number of statistically contributing microscopic constituents \(N\), ensemble mean \(\langle A\rangle\), fluctuation \(\Delta A\), and relative fluctuation \(\Delta A/\langle A\rangle\).
- Core Mechanism: Macroscopic stability emerges from the collective statistical organization of a large number of microscopic constituents. For an extensive observable, \[ \Delta A^2 = \langle A^2\rangle - \langle A\rangle^2. \] For a large number \(N\) of statistically contributing microscopic constituents, the relative fluctuation scales as \[ \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} \sim \frac{1}{\sqrt{N}}. \] Consequently, \[ \lim_{N\rightarrow\infty} \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} = 0. \] The scaling relation can be written quantitatively as \[ \left( \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} \right)_{N_2} = \left( \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} \right)_{N_1} \sqrt{\frac{N_1}{N_2}}. \] Thus increasing the number of statistically contributing constituents by a factor \(r\) reduces the relative fluctuation by a factor \(\sqrt r\), within the regime in which the statistical assumptions of the derivation apply.
- Observable / Test: Controlled many-body systems in which the number of statistically contributing microscopic constituents can be varied while measuring the relative fluctuation of an extensive observable. The measured scaling can be tested directly against \[ \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} \propto N^{-1/2}. \]
- Localized Falsification: A controlled many-body system demonstrating a persistent asymptotic fluctuation scaling inconsistent with \[ \frac{\Delta A}{\langle A\rangle} \propto N^{-1/2}, \] under conditions satisfying the statistical assumptions used in the derivation, falsifies this specific macroscopic-fluctuation-scaling prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1–4 or 6.
Prediction 6: Novel Non-Abelian Substrate Correction
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Substrate Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Vacuum Stiffness \(K\), Synthesis Pressure \(P\), substrate scale \(\Lambda_s\), non-Abelian field strength \(F_{\mu}^{a\,\nu}\), structure constants \(f^{abc}\), substrate coefficient \(\mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}}\), and momentum transfer \(Q\).
- Core Mechanism: The gauge-field realization of the Master Field Operator produces the gauge-invariant higher-order non-Abelian interaction \[ \Delta\mathcal L_{\mathrm{NA}}^{\mathrm{sub}} = \frac{\mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}}}{\Lambda_s^2} f^{abc} F_{\mu}^{a\,\nu} F_{\nu}^{b\,\rho} F_{\rho}^{c\,\mu}, \] where the dimensionless substrate coefficient is fixed by the fundamental structural parameters: \[ \mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}} = \frac{K}{K+P}. \] Using \[ K=11.350, \qquad P=0.6900, \] gives \[ \mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}} = 0.94269. \] At momentum transfer \[ Q\ll\Lambda_s, \] the leading relative correction to the Yang--Mills amplitude is \[ \frac{\Delta\mathcal A_{\mathrm{NA}}(Q)} {\mathcal A_{\mathrm{NA}}^{\mathrm{YM}}(Q)} = 0.94269 \left( \frac{Q}{\Lambda_s} \right)^2 + O\!\left( \frac{Q^4}{\Lambda_s^4} \right). \] Therefore the leading substrate-induced deviation is \[ \delta_{\mathrm{NA}}(Q) = 0.94269 \left( \frac{Q}{\Lambda_s} \right)^2. \] The standard Yang--Mills field strength and its associated cubic and quartic interactions remain unchanged at leading order. The new effect is an additional gauge-invariant substrate contribution whose magnitude increases quadratically with the characteristic momentum scale.
- Observable / Test: Precision measurements of processes sensitive to non-Abelian gauge self-interactions, including high-energy multi-jet production and observables containing interference between the standard Yang--Mills amplitude and the additional \(F^3\) contribution. Measurements at several characteristic momentum transfers provide a direct test of the predicted \(Q^2\) scaling and the fixed coefficient \[ \mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}}=0.94269. \]
- Localized Falsification: Precision measurements showing no substrate-induced contribution with the predicted leading dependence \[ \delta_{\mathrm{NA}}(Q) = 0.94269 \left( \frac{Q}{\Lambda_s} \right)^2, \] or determining a statistically significant coefficient incompatible with \[ \mathcal C_{\mathrm{NA}}=0.94269, \] after established Standard Model radiative corrections and experimental uncertainties are accounted for, falsify this specific novel non-Abelian substrate-correction prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1–5.
