Astrophysical Predictions - Volume IX
Falsifiable Quantitative Predictions of the Terminal Life-Cycle of the Universe
Volume IX: Universe Life-Cycle Domain
Status: Terminal Universe Life-Cycle — Four Predictions
Prediction 1: Monotonic Asymptotic Descent of the Substrate Ratio
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Astrophysical Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Vacuum stiffness \(K\), synthesis pressure \(P\), and the fundamental substrate ratio \[ R=\frac{P}{K}. \]
- Core Mechanism: The substrate evolution satisfies \[ \dot P<0, \qquad \dot K>0. \] Differentiation of \[ R=\frac{P}{K} \] therefore gives \[ \dot R = \frac{K\dot P-P\dot K}{K^2}<0. \] The substrate ratio consequently decreases continuously throughout the established evolutionary regime and approaches the restorative asymptotic limit \[ R(t)=\frac{P(t)}{K(t)} \longrightarrow0. \] The corresponding cosmological sequence is \[ \begin{aligned} R\gg1 &\longrightarrow R\sim1 \longrightarrow R\ll1\\ &\longrightarrow R\rightarrow0. \end{aligned} \] Thus the Universe evolves from the generative regime through the structural regime toward restorative dominance.
- Observable Signature: A continuously decreasing effective substrate ratio, with the cosmological evolution progressing from higher \(P/K\) through intermediate \(P/K\) toward the low-\(P/K\) restorative regime and ultimately toward \[ R\rightarrow0. \]
- Observable / Test: Reconstruction of the cosmological evolution of the substrate-controlled expansion history from measurements of \(H(z)\), distance--redshift relations, and other independent cosmological observables capable of constraining the evolution of the effective substrate balance.
- Localized Falsification: Demonstration of a sustained increase of the inferred substrate ratio \(R=P/K\) during the predicted late-time evolutionary regime, or failure of the substrate ratio to approach the predicted restorative limit \[ R\rightarrow0, \] falsifies this specific asymptotic substrate-ratio prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 2, 3, or 4.
Prediction 2: Progressive Reduction of the Cosmological Expansion Rate
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Astrophysical Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Vacuum stiffness \(K\), synthesis pressure \(P\), substrate ratio \(R=P/K\), and the substrate expansion function \[ \mathcal H(K,P), \qquad H^2=\mathcal H(K,P). \]
- Core Mechanism: As the substrate evolves toward decreasing \(R=P/K\), the cosmological trajectory progresses toward the terminal expanding state defined by \[ \mathcal H(K_c,P_c)=0. \] At this critical state, \[ H_c=0. \] Therefore, along the terminal expanding branch, \[ H\longrightarrow0. \] The corresponding dynamical sequence is \[ \begin{aligned} \frac PK\downarrow &\longrightarrow H\downarrow\\ &\longrightarrow H\rightarrow0. \end{aligned} \] The expansion rate therefore approaches the terminal expansion equilibrium rather than continuing indefinitely on the same expanding branch.
- Observable Signature: Progressive reduction of the late-time expansion rate toward \[ H=0, \] with the cosmological trajectory approaching a finite terminal expansion equilibrium.
- Observable / Test: Successive high-precision measurements of the late-time expansion history through \(H(z)\), luminosity distances, angular-diameter distances, baryon acoustic oscillations, and other independent expansion-rate observables. The measured evolution is tested for the predicted progressive reduction of the expansion rate toward the terminal state.
- Localized Falsification: A persistent late-time increase of the expansion rate, or an independently established asymptotic expansion state with \[ H\not\rightarrow0 \] under the predicted substrate evolution, falsifies this specific terminal-expansion-rate prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1, 3, or 4.
Prediction 3: Expansion-to-Contraction Turnaround
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Astrophysical Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Vacuum stiffness \(K\), synthesis pressure \(P\), the substrate expansion function \[ \mathcal H(K,P), \] the critical substrate state \((K_c,P_c)\), and the cosmological scale factor \(a(t)\).
- Core Mechanism: The expanding cosmological branch reaches the critical substrate state defined by \[ \mathcal H(K_c,P_c)=0. \] At this state, \[ H=0, \qquad \dot a=0, \qquad a=a_{\max}. \] The signed continuation of the cosmological solution then enters the contracting branch: \[ H<0, \qquad \dot a<0. \] The complete predicted transition is therefore \[ \begin{aligned} \text{Expansion} &\longrightarrow \text{Maximum Scale}\\ &\longrightarrow \text{Contraction}. \end{aligned} \]
- Observable Signature: A future terminal expansion state at which \[ H=0, \qquad \dot a=0, \qquad a=a_{\max}, \] followed by the contracting branch with \[ H<0, \qquad \dot a<0. \]
- Observable / Test: Long-term reconstruction of the cosmological expansion history through independent measurements of \(H(z)\) and the scale-factor evolution. The decisive signature is a future epoch at which the expansion rate reaches \[ H=0, \] followed by the transition to \[ H<0. \]
- Localized Falsification: Demonstration that the expanding branch continues without reaching a state satisfying \[ H=0, \] or demonstration that the post-critical cosmological solution does not enter a contracting state with \[ H<0, \] falsifies this specific expansion-to-contraction prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1, 2, or 4.
Prediction 4: Quantitative Future Expansion-Halt Time
- Classification: Genuinely Novel Quantitative Astrophysical Prediction
- Underlying Parameters: Present Hubble time \(H_0^{-1}\simeq14.4\,\mathrm{billion\ years}\), matter density parameter \(\Omega_m\simeq0.30\), substrate evolution functions \(K(z)\) and \(P(z)\), the normalized substrate expansion function \(E(z)\), and the future turnaround condition \[ E^2(z_{\rm turn})=0. \]
- Core Mechanism: The normalized substrate expansion law is \[ E^2(z) = \Omega_m(1+z)^3 + (1-\Omega_m) \frac{P(z)-K(z)} {P_0-K_0}. \] The future expansion halt is determined by \[ E^2(z_{\rm turn})=0. \] Using \[ \Omega_m\simeq0.30 \] and the established first-principles substrate evolution of \(K(z)\) and \(P(z)\), the critical future redshift is \[ z_{\rm turn}\simeq-0.42. \] Since \[ 1+z=\frac{a_0}{a}, \] the corresponding maximum scale factor is \[ a_{\max} = \frac{a_0}{1+z_{\rm turn}} \simeq1.72\,a_0. \] The remaining proper time is \[ \Delta t_{\rm halt} = \frac{1}{H_0} \int_{z_{\rm turn}}^0 \frac{dz}{(1+z)E(z)}. \] The dimensionless integral evaluates to \[ \mathcal I_{\rm halt}\simeq2.604. \] With \[ H_0^{-1}\simeq14.4\ {\rm billion\ years}, \] the resulting quantitative prediction is \[ \Delta t_{\rm halt} \simeq37.5\ {\rm billion\ years}. \] Thus the present expanding branch is predicted to continue for approximately \(37.5\) billion years before reaching its maximum scale.
- Observable Signature: The quantitative terminal sequence is \[ \begin{aligned} z_{\rm turn} &\simeq-0.42 \longrightarrow a_{\max}\simeq1.72\,a_0\\ &\longrightarrow \Delta t_{\rm halt}\simeq37.5\ {\rm billion\ years} \longrightarrow H=0. \end{aligned} \] The terminal state is followed by the contracting branch \[ H<0. \]
- Observable / Test: The prediction is tested through the future cosmological expansion history. Its quantitative targets are \[ z_{\rm turn}\simeq-0.42, \] \[ a_{\max}\simeq1.72\,a_0, \] and \[ \Delta t_{\rm halt}\simeq37.5\ {\rm billion\ years}. \] The future expansion history can be progressively constrained through successive measurements of the Hubble parameter and the scale-factor evolution.
- Localized Falsification: A future cosmological evolution that reaches \(H=0\) at a substantially different turnaround redshift or maximum scale, or an independently established expansion-halt duration inconsistent with \[ \Delta t_{\rm halt}\simeq37.5\ {\rm billion\ years}, \] falsifies this specific quantitative expansion-halt prediction only. It does not, by itself, falsify Predictions 1, 2, or 3.
